Denise has specialized in international programs administration throughout her 25-year Indiana University career. She started as assistant director of the Title VI-funded Russian and East European Institute before working for several years in the College Dean’s Office as administrative and financial coordinator for many of the international academic units that now comprise IU’s Hamilton Lugar School. She has served in her current position since 2011, where she is RC-level fiscal officer and human resources director for the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA).  The OVPIA mission is to provide leadership and advocacy for global engagement and international activities on all campuses. The office oversees IU’s international student and scholar services, overseas study, international development, international partnerships, and network of global gateway offices. Denise represents OVPIA on the IU Policy Advisory Council and in a leadership role for her national professional organization Higher Ed International Business Officers (HEIBO). The data managed in Denise’s portfolio is primarily passport, visa, and other immigration data related to international mobility of faculty, staff, scholars, and students, both incoming and outgoing. Her role will also touch on IU compliance with data protection requirements in other parts of the world where we operate, such as GDPR in Europe.
